Career Overview
I worked in nursing for 35 years. I became a nurse because I really had a drive and a passion for helping people, for caring about people.
A Life Dedicated to Caring for Others
For many years now, I have dedicated myself to caring for others, particularly mothers, infants, and their families. My career started in pediatrics and maternal-child health in Chicago, where I worked as a case manager for children at risk and mothers who were expecting. In this role, I offered newborn developmental screenings and helped mothers with breastfeeding, bonding, and adjusting to motherhood. What began as a profession quickly became a true calling and purpose in my life.
Growing Through Healthcare
As my passion for healthcare continued to grow, I pursued additional education and became a family nurse practitioner. This journey opened doors for me to work at the University of Chicago, Planned Parenthood, and the Family Planning Clinic. Through these experiences, I had the privilege of supporting families, educating patients, and positively impacting lives every single day.
Returning Home and Serving My Community
Life took on a new meaning when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Wanting to be closer to my loved ones, I decided to move back home and care for my mother during this important stage of her life. During that time, I also served as the Director of Public Health in my town. My responsibilities included supervising nurses, overseeing immunization and school physical programs, coordinating home healthcare services, working closely with senior citizens, organizing the local farmers market, and ensuring food safety within the community. Serving my own community brought me immense joy and fulfillment.
Discovering a New Passion
Retirement, which I once believed would mark the end of one chapter, became the beginning of something entirely new. I found peace in gardening, planting, and creating with my hands. During this season of life, I also rediscovered a skill I learned as a young girl from my mother—crocheting.
A Journey Crafted with Love
What started as a simple hobby soon blossomed into a true passion. I began designing handmade purses that amazed friends and family with their creativity, detail, and craftsmanship. Every piece reflected not only artistry, but also the love, care, and dedication poured into each design.
From Passion to Purpose
Slowly but surely, that passion grew into a successful business. Today, every purse is still handcrafted with the same patience, compassion, and commitment that guided me through years in healthcare, community service, and caring for my mother. Every stitch carries a story, and every creation is made with purpose, heart, and love.
